FEATURES
These units are recirculatory, i.e. filtered air is exhausted back into the workplace.
Comprising: Particulate fibre filter to 10 microns - 4kg activated carbon filter - optional 0.3 micron HEPA (model T370H-H) Papst radial blower, brushless, external rotor motor type (self cooling), UL, VDE and CSA approved - Sealed electrical wiring and switch(s) downstream of filters – Steel construction finished in dove grey - Clear, acrylic, hinged fume hood.

APPLICATIONS
For use in situations where external venting is impractical and hydrocarbon vapour and gas filtration is necessary. Applications include the handling and use of Electrochemicals. (Cleaning solvents, conformal coatings etc) resins, sealants, adhesives, solder pots and solder irons. Also used in orthopaedics and dental laboratories for controlling staff exposure to, typically, methyl methacrylate, cyanoacrylate adhesives and for the safe weighing of hazardous powders.
Optional accessories available include Part No’s HE405 pleated HEPA particulate filter for fine dust/powder and solder fume capture to 0.3-micron particles. Stainless steel spillage trays and perforated grids.
Filtration cabinets T370H are designed to vastly reduce and/or eliminate operator exposure to potentially harmful airborne contaminants in line with COSHH regulations 2002 and occupational exposure limits published annually in HSE document EH40/2002.
The basic design principal consists of drawing air, vapour and particulates away from the operator and passing contaminated air at a set velocity through an activated carbon filter and/or HEPA filter. Cleaned air is exhausted at the rear/right of the cabinet.

FILTRATION
A choice of filter combinations are available. All combinations include Pre-filter.
A HEPA filter to 0.3 microns for high-grade filtration, typically to arrest solder fume (smoke) particulates ranging in size from 0.3 to 10 microns and potentially harmful fine powders.
NB: Solder fume consists of 95% particulates and 5% gases.
If vapours and gases only are being utilized, then a the unit is available with a heavy Activated carbon filter for high efficiency adsorption and protection
The Activated Carbon/HEPA filter combination (Ref. 3 below) will adsorb a high percentage of solvent vapour and gases and contain fine dusts, powders and smoke to 0.3 microns.
Brief examples are given below of tests undertaken to assess the effectiveness of the filters. A Gastec pump and colorimetric adsorption tubes were used to measure vapour and gas concentrations.
1) Application: Protective coating for electronics applied by brush.
Contaminant: Organic solvents (total hydrocarbon adsorption tubes were used)
Operator exposure working on a bench top was 180ppm. Operator exposure using the fume hood was not detectable. Exhaust air from the rear of the cabinet was less than 10ppm (i.e. not detectable).
2) Application: Manufacture of dental prosthetics and hearing aid mouldings.
Contaminant: Methyl methacrylate
Operator exposure working on a bench top was 200ppm. Operator exposure using the fume hood was not detectable. Exhaust air from the rear of the cabinet was less than 10ppm (i.e. not detectable).
3) Application: Electronic cleaning process using aerosol spray.
Contaminant: Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA)
Operator exposure working on a bench top was 1500ppm. Operator exposure using the fume hood was not detectable. Exhaust air from the rear of the cabinet was less than 10ppm (i.e. not detectable).
NB: Specially treated carbon filters are available on request for specialist applications. E.G. Acids
